Mind Body Balance PT Autoimmune Management

  • Conduct a thorough assessment of the individual's medical history, current symptoms, systems involved, functional limitations, and goals. Take into consideration the specific autoimmune disease they have, as well as any associated comorbidities or complications.

  • Work closely with the individual's healthcare team, including PCP, DO, Cardiology, rheumatologist, or other specialists, to ensure coordinated care and alignment of treatment goals.

  • Treatment plans are made based on individualized needs and goals. We consider factors such as disease activity, multi-system involvement, joint involvement, fatigue, autonomic nervous system involvement, and overall functional status when designing therapy interventions.

  • Focus on symptom management strategies to address common symptoms associated with autoimmune diseases, such as pain, inflammation, stiffness, fatigue, and reduced mobility. Utilize interventions such as manual therapy, joint mobilization, Neubie treatments, therapeutic exercise as tolerated, and progressive strength plans.

  • Prescribe exercise programs that are safe, effective, and tailored to the individual's abilities and limitations. Emphasize exercises that promote joint stability without placing too much stress on the body and neurological system. We also closely monitor the cardiovascular system for individuals that have POTS and dysautonomia.

  • Provide education and resources for individuals on the importance of overall health and mind body balance. Patients with autoimmune conditions often experience flares and exacerbations which can be better managed with holistic approaches.

  • Regularly monitor the individual's progress, reassess their functional status, and adjust treatment interventions as needed based on their response to therapy and changes in their condition.

  • Recognize the psychosocial impact of living with an autoimmune disease and provide emotional support, encouragement, and empathy to individuals as they navigate the physical and emotional challenges associated with their condition.
